Postcards from Buster China: Celebrating Life's Journey

As we reflect on the lives of those who have left us, we often remember their passions and interests that brought them joy and fulfillment. For Murphy Jr., it was a love for dogs, nature, and adventure. His 80th birthday celebration with family marked another milestone in his remarkable life.

Born in 1920, Wini Ladner's journey took her from England to America, where she spent most of her adult life. Her marriage to Lorne Wood Ladner, a United States serviceman stationed in England, brought her to this country in 1946. Despite being a naturalized American citizen, Wini remained proud of her British heritage.

Wini's life was marked by her strong sense of family and community. She worked at the Gardiner hospital prior to her retirement and was an avid cook, reader, and gardener. Her love for nature extended to birdwatching and feeding them. Murphy Jr., on the other hand, enjoyed kennel club meetings, dog shows, and outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling.

Both Wini and Murphy Jr.'s lives were filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2008 and spent many happy years together. Their family was a source of strength and joy to them both, and they cherished every moment with loved ones.

As we remember Wini's life, we are reminded of her remarkable spirit and zest for life. Her passing on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her three daughters, left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity that will be cherished forever.
